NEC VIDEO CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED!
CHICAGO, IL -- October 5, 2005 -
Chrisman High School Rises Above 200 Schools to Win 25 NEC VT47 Projectors
Over the summer teachers and students from kindergarten through 12th grade were busy developing and submitting creative two-minute videos to NEC. These videos demonstrated how display technology would positively affect learning in their classroom, with the best video winning 25 NEC VT47 projectors for their school. The public voted for their favorite video between September 26-30, 2005 on NEC’s website (www.necvisualsystems.com), and the overwhelming winner is William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri!

“When we found out that we won, everyone was so excited you could actually hear cheering from all the way down the hall!” said Nathan Mooney, chemistry teacher at Chrisman High School, who along with fellow teacher Jim Schaffer created the winning video. “We are going to be able to use these projectors in so many ways; we can’t wait to get our hands on them! We are so proud of our school and want to thank NEC for making Chrisman an even better school.”

The winning video cleverly rearranged the lyrics of a pop song to highlight the multiple uses of an NEC projector. This song was sung by various teachers and students throughout the school and was accompanied on guitar by their mascot the Chrisman Bear. View the winning video at www.necvisualsystems.com.

The top five videos, selected from over 200 quality videos are: Chanute High School in Chanute, Kansas, Freeport High School from Sarver, Pennsylvania, John Tucker Elementary School from Redmond, Oregon, Marshall Middle School from Marshall, Virginia and William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. Over 8000 votes were submitted and Chrisman High School came out on top, winning 25 NEC projectors with a total value of over $21,000!

The need for presentation equipment in the classroom is a top concern for teachers across America. NEC’s award-winning projectors and plasma displays are ideal for educational environments -- from classrooms to hallways to auditoriums. In addition, NEC projectors can be placed on a media cart for easy sharing with other teachers and classrooms, or mounted permanently on the ceiling.

“I’m so happy that NEC was able to further equip Chrisman High School with display tools that will help their teachers and students,” said David Woolf, vice president of marketing, NEC. “A main challenge teachers face today is the need for updated technology. Incorporating display technology into the curriculum can help motivate students and increase learning retention.”

Teachers and administration also have the opportunity to order a free TECH 101 notebook, by visiting www.necvisualsystems.com or calling 1-800-632-4636. The TECH 101 notebook is a handy tool for teachers that outlines: how display technology can improve learning, how to apply for an education grant, “best practice” case studies about projection technology, and how to sell your principal (decision-maker) on the benefits of display technology.
