NEC Display Solutions’ Large-Screen LCDs Creating Greater Hospital Efficiencies
The number of hospitals using professional-grade large-screen LCD monitors for dynamic information applications is on the rise according to NEC Display Solutions, the leading stand-alone vendor of flat panel desktop displays. NEC’s large-screen series, viewable at RSNA 2005 in Chicago November 27 - 30, includes the 32-inch MultiSync LCD 3210, the 40-inch MultiSync LCD 4010 and the 46-inch MultiSync LCD4610 – the largest professional LCD display available on the market.

More and more hospitals and clinics are using large-screen LCDs in applications such as mapping and digital signage for better dissemination of information and in operating rooms and in nursing stations to gain better control of patient and procedural tracking. By using displays such as the NEC MultiSync LCD4010, physicians and nurses are getting instant and vital access to patient information.

“The NEC large-screen LCDs have been an invaluable tool for our doctors and nurses to better manage our workflow,” said David Hultgren, IT Technical Project Manager for Virginia-based Sentara Healthcare. “We have noticed a definite decrease in wait times for rooms and have seen significant increases in patient tracking and scheduling efficiencies.”

By delivering the highest image contrast and brightness quality on the market, the MultiSync large-screen series creates significantly improved visibility and color uniformity in high ambient light environments. Developed for applications in the rapidly emerging markets of information display and digital signage, the family of NEC-branded, displays offers the most technologically advanced functionality in the industry.

“Because it has been designed to meet the changing needs of the market, the NEC MultiSync series of large-screen products are uniquely equipped to meet the current and future needs of our medical customers,” said Hans Baumann, Senior Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions. Available in a full-function AV version, an IT version is also available for PC output applications.

Additional components in the new feature suite include the patented Tile Matrix feature that creates a near-seamless display for multi-unit applications. This feature eliminates the need for additional video distribution equipment such as distribution amplifiers and multi-head video cards. Matrices as large as 5 x 5 can be created resulting in ultra-large viewable images. The new displays also offer Gray-to-Gray Overdrive which allows for smoother, more uniform video image viewing.

“These large-screen LCD monitors incorporate our Digital Signage Technology Suite, which is a bundle of features so advanced, the clear and refined images they create sets a new quality standard for information display,” said Baumann. “Not only has image quality been improved, but these products also offer enhanced installation and control flexibility at a substantially lower Total Cost of Ownership.”
