NEC builds power into installations with new projectors
CHICAGO, March 15, 2007 (Special to NSCA Expo)
NP4000 Single Chip DLP® Projector Offers Flexibility and Manageability with Extended Use Capability, Full Line of Optional Lenses and Dual Lamp Operation
NEC Corporation of America (NEC), an industry leader in IT, visual displays and network solutions, today introduced its latest single chip DLP projector targeting applications requiring higher brightness and extended use. The NP4000 high performance installation and large venue projector will make its public debut in the NEC booth (#1533) at NSCA Expo 2007, March 15-17 in Orlando, Florida.

Designed primarily for corporate, government and higher education facilities that require a powerfully projected image, the 5000 ANSI lumen, XGA-native NP4000 delivers extreme reliability in applications ranging from command and control centers to training facilities to lecture halls. Its full line of optional lenses feature power horizontal and vertical lens shift for flexible placement anywhere from 2.6 feet to 283 feet from the screen. And the NP4000’s single or dual lamp operation allows users the flexibility to choose a light output that is right for the application while conserving energy and increasing lamp life. “It is critical for an HLO projector to be both flexible and manageable, particularly for extended use applications where users can’t afford to have technical difficulties,” said Keith Yanke, senior product line manager, NEC Corporation of America, Visual Systems Division. “With the NP4000, it’s now possible to place a large venue projector into a configuration that best suits the application, then walk away with confidence because you know it will perform.”

Projector Advancements
The NP4000 incorporates advanced video processing with BrilliantColor™ from Texas Instruments to deliver exceptional picture management control for both progressive and interlaced sources while making images more vibrant, colors more realistic and blacks richer with detail. At the same time, DynamicBlack™ monitors the incoming video content and dynamically adjusts the contrast ratio to optimize picture quality for each video frame. Additionally, the NP4000 features user-changeable color wheels with four segments for full brightness or optional six segments for superior color fidelity.

Networking and Asset Management
The NP4000 provides integrated networking and asset management features making it the perfect choice for demanding installations. Its RJ45 connection allows for quick hook-up to the LAN (10/100 base-T capability), while remote diagnostics enable the user to monitor and make adjustments to the projector via the network from a remote location.

NEC Dedicated to Extending the Life of the NP4000
Along with extended use operation, the NP4000 incorporates a number of built-in methods to extend the life of the projector and decrease its total cost of ownership. NEC’s Eco- Mode™ technology increases lamp life by up to 25 percent while its lamp saver feature enables the cooling fan to continue running even after the power source is disconnected. The Direct Power Off function also protects the lamp if the projector is accidentally unplugged or the power strip is switched off.

Availability, Pricing and Warranty
The NP4000 will begin shipping in April 2007 at a price of $5,999. The NP4000 comes standard with a two-year limited warranty including the first year with InstaCare™ (repair and return in three business days or next business day exchange).
