Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport Selects NEC Display Solutions Large-Screen LCDs to Create State-of-the-Industry Transportation Hub
NEC Display Solutions of America, the leading stand-alone provider of flat panel desktop displays, announced today that it has provided 46-inch large-screen LCDs to Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport as part of the airport’s multi-million dollar expansion project. The NEC displays play an integral role in providing passengers with multi-mode transportation information.

In addition to consolidating different flight arrival and departure information from multiple carriers into a central, stylized portal, the NEC MultiSync LCD4610 displays are delivering Amtrak train arrival and departure information, and visual paging information for the hearing impaired.

“We have been thrilled with the performance of the NEC large-screen LCDs,” said Wilfredo Rivera, Network Tech Specialist for Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport. “We have been really impressed with the brightness and image quality they produce.”

In the South Skywalk where sunlight streams in most of the day, the LCD4610s have produced clear, glare-free images and information – a challenge the previous displays could not meet. “We’ve only begun to utilize all of the built-in features,” he said.

Using the LCD4610’s built-in tile matrix feature and FlightView Dispatch software, four of the displays hang together in the central terminal, delivering a large-scale, real-time flight data display where passengers can track incoming flights and regional weather conditions.

“The NEC large-screen displays offer the most technologically advanced functionality in the industry, making them an ideal solution for airport information applications,” said Hans Baumann, Senior Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions. “Because the technology suite features higher power efficiency, lower internal temperature sensors and greater brightness control, it delivers a longer product life and a lower total cost of ownership.”

Designed to withstand the demands of long-term operation, the NEC LCD large-screen displays have the highest image contrast and brightness quality on the market. The NEC MultiSync LCD4610 monitors feature significantly improved visibility and wide-angle viewing in high ambient light environments.

Key features of the NEC MultiSync LCD4610 include:

• Increased brightness, creating improved visibility in high ambient light environments, enhanced image quality and improved color uniformity
• Improved energy efficiency, reducing overall operating costs
• Lower internal heat levels, delivering longer product life
• Integrated internal Real-Time Clock for full-function operation scheduling
• Enhanced AccuColor 6-way color control for improved color matching
• Improved CableComp – long cable compensation – enabling lower installation costs and greater location flexibility
• Daisy Chain Control, which allows for single or multiple monitor control
• Three-year limited parts and labor warranty
• 24/7 support from NEC Display Solutions
